I am sorry to hear about that news. According to your description, I can totally understand how you are feeling at the moment. I won’t object to the reaction you did, but you also have the right to ask how she marked the paper surely.
In fact, I am not going to persuade you of Phoebe’s intention or orientation toward classroom instruction, because each one has share completely different point of view. There is no right or wrong answer to a question, but there are objective or subjective opinions stem from your thinking or beliefs. If you regard me as a good friend, please allow me to say something that you may not like it. Most of people in our ages even older can not figure out what happen around them and they tend to have their own way to view the meaning of thing. What I want to say is that, “Time and Generation have changed” and we belong to the “old one”. To a certain extent, things can not be judged on the basis of an “old way”. In my personal opinion, I am intended to place Phoebe in the category of “new generation” because she is younger than us and also she used to study abroad;, that is, she may share different concept as what the traditional teachers do. It seems to be more complex than you think, but it might be simple if you could comprehend without bearing original thoughts in your mind. For example, Ms Pan, a representative of old generation, offers what we want and gives as must stuff as she can. Unlike Pan, however, Phoebe wants us to be creative and imaginative. She could be the first one who applies “new” instruction in our class. Do you remember the questions I asked on C’s speech? Actually, I was not fully interested in her job, but interested in “inquiry” which what I have learned from Phoebe.
She is the first teacher in our class who use “New Generation Way” to teach us and the stuff from her might not as much as Ms. Pan, who offers what we want but she exactly creates our mind. Remembered that on the speech of C last time, I asked several question to her which does not mean all I was interesting about her job, on the contrary, I was just testing ”inquiring” about what I have learned from Phoebe.
During our school days, have you ever thought about how many teachers who ask us to express our ideas in a creative way? The answer is nobody, but Phoebe. My perception of on knowledge is not only get “what, why, how” from teachers but also “sense” and “creation”.
